“This jackfruit meat substitute acts like pulled pork and will fool any meat eater! Get the potato chips and coleslaw ready, because you are about to have a picnic.”


1 (16 ounce) can jackfruit in brine, drained

1 cup barbeque sauce

2 tablespoons margarine (such as Earth BalanceĀ®)

4 hamburger buns, split


  1. Remove all seeds from jackfruit. Combine jackfruit and BBQ sauce in a slow cooker. Cook on High for 3 to 4 hours.
  2. Use a fork to shred jackfruit meat. Spread margarine on hamburger buns and place a scoop of jackfruit “meat” on top. Serve immediately
